Dhyas Foundation:
Dhyas Foundation started its journey from 9th December 2017 with an aim for gradually reducing the Waste from the surrounding in a small city called Vasai. The vicinity of heritage Vasai fort and beach were affected by waste materials from households, mainly the plastic waste. To deal with waste dumping and improper plastic segregation and treatment is one of the major concerns of our developing nation. Dhyas Foundation primarily started cleaning the environment, explaining and educating the people about cleanliness, simple waste segregation methods, avoiding single use plastic bags, etc. by merely few think tanks in society.
The Dhyas teams evolved and slowly brought slight change in the age old mindset of people for waste generation and plastic pollution and over the last 3 years have garnered heaps of praises from several professionals, corporate, politicians and well-wishers.
Currently, team Dhyas is successful in educating hundreds of individuals for reducing the usage of plastic products in day to day life. Also Dhyas Foundation schedules the collection of all types of plastic waste in the regions of Vasai, Virar and Mira Road once a month. Thanks to the members of Dhyas family and our Volunteers for helping us make the environment better.
Dhyas Foundation is engaged in Plastic collection and recycling of all types of plastic waste including bottles, caps, cans or containers, toys, pouches, wrappers, carry bags, packing material, toiletries, kitchenware, industrial waste materials, etc. The waste is hygienically handled, segregated and recycled at dedicated area. Dhyas Foundation has set up several waste collection centers in the city for this activity. Every center has Dhyas Foundation members and volunteers to interacting with people, waste collection and spreading awareness. This event is scheduled on every 3rd Sunday of month in Virar region and every 4th Sunday of Month in Vasai region.
Collection centers:
Dhyas Foundation is engaged in E-Waste and liquid tetra pack collection along with plastic waste. The E-waste stands for Electronic waste which includes old electrical appliances, broken devices, cell phones, toys, cables, wires, chargers, etc. The waste is collected on monthly basis and once accumulated in decent quantities, it is sent for recycling to dedicated government approved facility. Dhyas Foundation has set up several waste collection centers in the city for this activity. Every center has Dhyas Foundation members and volunteers to interacting with people, waste collection and spreading awareness. This event is scheduled on every 3rd Sunday of month in Virar and every 4th Sunday of month in Vasai region along with Plastic waste collection.
Dhyas Foundation is involved in collection of old unused sarees, bed sheets, ladies dress material or old fabric cloth, etc. This waste is at times donated to needy section of society and most of the times used in preparation of cloth carry bags. Theses carry bags are stitched and prepared under Dhyas Women welfare program generating work to hardworking and needy women in the city. The bags are distributed to local shops and markets at very minimal costs and also given as free sampling to Foundation members, volunteers and citizens participating in Dhyas events.
Dhyas Foundation is actively working towards Bavkhal maintenance and cleaning. Farm ponds or bhavkhal are essential clean water storage seen in the Vasai vicinity. These tradional natural water bodies need timely cleaning and adequate maintenance and Dhyas foundation is in forefront dealing with this issue. Attempts are made to close these water storage bodies for construction needs; Team Dhyas is closely working to prevent local bavkhal from disappearing. These farm ponds are very essential for soil and water management.
Dhyas Foundation members are engaged in creating awareness regarding generation of plastic waste, usage of banned plastic items, hazardous and unsafe waste dumping and environment pollution. Several members of Dhyas family spend nearly 12 hours each, every week in creating awareness in society and high waste generating areas of city.
Awareness campaigns are organized during festive seasons, weekly market days, exhibitions, etc. Dhyas Foundation also teams up with other active NGO’s in creating awareness in society and welfare of local people.
Dhyas Foundation has till date organized various seminars by guest speakers on various topics related to environment pollution, tree plantation, Zero Waste lifestyle, Plastic collection and segregation, Plastic alternatives, Wet waste disposal, etc. This expert lectures are scheduled in various locations and hundreds of people are educated in the process. Seminars and workshops are also conducted by Dhyas Foundation core members for students.
Dhyas core members have visited several schools and colleges in Vasai-Virar region and explained students the importance of cleanliness and environment pollution issues and ways to solve them.
Dhyas Foundation members have actively participated in the cleanliness drives organized in different areas of Vasai. Dhyas team, along with their family members and support of local responsible citizens have cleaned many areas in the vicinity which often gets unattended in daily cleaning of corporation team. Dhyas members along with the support of local authority have been highly successful in creating cleaner surrounding in several regions.

I have been associated with Dhyas Foundation for over 2 years now and worked in different events organized by Team Dhyas. To be honest, it’s really heartening to see elders working very hard for our environment, while we teenagers and youth force is busy living our life fullest. They are very few social groups working towards better environment and creating a healthy living for future. Dhyas Foundation is an organized team of loving members working together as a family. I am inspired by enthusiasm of active Dhyas members and vision of Mrs. Kirti Shende madam for giving my best. I look forward to see more boisterous members in Dhyas family especially youngsters to make our Vasai-Virar region cleaner, greener and free of plastic waste.
I’m fortunate to have been part of Dhyas Foundation and really happy to see outstanding work done by them. I am very pleased to say that my experience of associating with Dhyas Foundation has been excellent and I feel it is a privilege too. It is a best way to stay connected with strangers. Everyone live their life for themselves, their family, friends and relatives but life is complete if we live for others too in a good environment. My appreciation for the excellent work Dhyas is carrying out in cleaning the environment. It always wanted to do its bit to the society, on various fronts and environment is one of the focus regions. Through its initiatives, Dhyas is trying to bring out environmental awareness among the general public. Environmental awareness, planting trees, using cloth bag instead of plastic, and protecting our surroundings are an integrate part of Dhyas’s values. I am honored to be a part of the organization in a small way and shall try to remain so. Keep up the good work.
